Getting Started: Your 6-Step Guide to the DeepEditor Workflow
New to DeepEditor or need a refresher? This article will help you get started.
This article covers the six steps of transforming your original shot into a vub, linking to the best resources from our Knowledge Base to guide you every step of the way.
These steps include:
- Choose and prepare the media you want to vub
- Check your token balance
- Create your vub
- Refine your vub
- Get clearance for your vub
- Finalize your vub and import it into your edit
1. Choose and prepare the media you want to vub.
Your first step of creating a vub happens outside of DeepEditor. Start by carefully choosing and preparing:
- Source Media (the original shot you want to vub)
- Driving Data (an audiovisual file or standalone audio containing the new dialogue)
- Training Data (optional additional footage to improve your vub)
It’s important to prepare your media properly, to make sure your vub is as natural as possible. Read: How To Prepare Your Media for a Vub for help with this.
You should also make sure any uploads are compatible with the file types and codecs supported by DeepEditor. Read Supported Media Formats for help choosing file types. Be sure also to check out Supported Color Spaces.
2. Check your token balance
If you’ve started a free trial, you’ll have free vub tokens already in your account. If you’ve run out of tokens, buy more by clicking Tokens in your DeepEditor dashboard. If you get stuck, refer to FAQs: Buying Tokens.
3. Create your vub
Upload the media you prepared in the first step and use your tokens to generate a vub.
This step is covered in detail in How To Create a New Vub.
If you’re having trouble, take a look at our article on Common Issues and Solutions.
4. Refine your vub
If you want to make refinements to your vub, you can use the Refinement Tool.
This step is not always necessary, but it can be great to have that extra degree of control over your final output.
To master this step, explore our articles on Refinement and watch our Refinement Video Series.
If you would really like to master DeepEditor, be sure to check out our articles on lip sync, so that you can use Blendshapes more effectively when using the Refinement Tool.
5. Get clearance for your vub
To comply with SAG-AFTRA guidelines and remain ethical, you must gain consent from actors when you alter their performances.
Make sure you assign an appropriate Rights Clearance Manager who'll facilitate this clearance between your team and talent.
Learn about the Artistic Rights Treasury (A.R.T.) workflow in the section on Vub Rights Clearance and Approval.
6. Finalize your vub and import it into your edit
Export your vub in your chosen resolution. Make sure you understand the DeepEditor Vub Quality levels and learn more about How To Export High-Resolution Vubs.
Import your vub into your editing suite as you would any video file.
