Overview

In DeepEditor tokens are credits used to create or upgrade vubs. Purchasing tokens within your workspace makes them available to all projects and users who share the workspace.

We are simplifying token types from four (Draft, Standard, Professional, Theatrical) to two:

  • Draft tokens (equivalent to the former Standard tokens) are used to generate Draft vubs for offline editorial workflows and idea testing. These are NOT for commercial use.
  • Final tokens (equivalent to the former Theatrical tokens) are used to generate Final vubs for online mastering and release workflows.

Final tokens now use Distribution Scopes, so you pay based on how widely your project will be released. With this change we hope to make access to our technology as affordable for as many creatives as possible.

Distribution Scopes (Final Tokens)

  • Each Project has a single fixed Distribution Scope that must be chosen when creating a Final Vub for the first time.
  • All Final tokens used in a project must match that project’s distribution scope.
  • The distribution scope can be set in the Project Settings at any time.
  • Once a Final vub has been triggered, the distribution scope for the project cannot be changed, so you should choose the most appropriate distribution scope based on the distribution plans for your project at the time.
  • If the distribution scope for your project increases (e.g. from Regional to Worldwide Theatrical), you must contact us to discuss pricing.

Token Use and Typical Workflow

Draft Vubs

A draft vub is designed for offline editorial workflows, for example, when an editor wants to test whether a visual dub idea works creatively before finalizing it.

Use a draft vub when:

  • You want to replace or refine a line of dialogue in a filmed performance.
  • You’re evaluating how the new dialogue fits the edit.
  • You’re showing internal screeners, assemblies, or rough cuts.
Editorial Guidance

At the draft stage, the question to ask is:

“Has the vub worked? Does it look like the actor is delivering the new dialogue?”

Draft vubs are typically viewed in editorial screenings or internal reviews. They are not intended for public distribution or commercial use.

To view a Draft vub without the watermark, follow your project’s A.R.T. (Artistic Rights Treasury) workflow and confirm consent has been granted.

Once the vub has been approved and included in the picture lock, it can be upgraded to a Final vub.

Final Vubs

A Final vub is designed for theatrical releases, streaming platforms, and premium television. These vubs meet industry delivery specifications for mastering and distribution.

Final vubs require online resolution source media (e.g., original camera media or ACES .exr image sequences). A Draft vub can be upgraded to Final by uploading the corresponding higher-quality source media into the same shot in DeepEditor.

When your source footage is 12-bit or 16-bit, DeepEditor will train and render the vub at full bit depth, maintaining maximum image fidelity.

Typical Workflow
  1. Start with a Draft vub to validate your creative idea. Use this for editorial screenings or internal reviews.
  2. Once approved, upgrade to a Final vub and select your distribution scope. Use this for your final delivery.
