Supported Media Formats

Understand the requirements for video and audio media to generate a vub

Video File Requirements

Duration

DeepEditor currently accommodates video and audio with a maximum duration of 1,440 frames (60 seconds at 24fps).

Codec

MOV/MXF

  • ProRes (4444 XQ, 4444, 422 HQ, 422, 422 LT, and 422 Proxy)
  • DNx (DNxHR 444, DNxHR HQX, DNxHR HQ, DNxHR SQ, DNxHR LB) ]
  • H264
  • H265

Note: If you provide an older DNxHD codec (e.g. DNxHD36 / DNxHD115) as your Source media, the exported vub will default to DNxHR HQ.

MP4
  • H264
  • H265

EXR

  • Supported as Source media ,for all compressions, but you can only export EXRs for Final quality vubs.

Frame Rate
  • 23.976 fps
  • 24 fps
  • 25 fps
  • 29.97 fps NDF
  • 30 fps

Note: We do not support variable frame rates.

Resolution
  • Source media: width/height no greater than 8192 pixels

  • Dimensions must have even-numbered values (i.e. 2500x1717, for example, would not work)

  • Exported file resolution will be limited by the selected vub quality level.

    • Draft vub exports are capped at 1920 pixels (width or height). For example, if your Source media is 4096x1716 (2.39:1), Draft quality exports will be downscaled to 1920x804.

Aspect Ratio
  • Any aspect ratio; for example:

    • 16:9 (standard video formats)

    • 1.85:1, 2.39:1 (cinematic widescreen)

    • 9:16, 1:1 (social media and mobile formats)

Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR)

DeepEditor only accepts 1:1 (square) pixel aspect ratio. Anamorphic/non-square PAR media should be desqueezed before upload.

Color Space

We support a wide range of color spaces, including:

  • Rec.709
  • sRGB
  • Rec.2020
  • ACES2065-1, ACEScg, ACEScc, ACEScct
  • ARRI LogC, ARRi V3 LogC (EI800) - Wide Gamut
  • RED - Curve - REDlogFilm

For a complete list, see Supported Color Spaces.

Letterboxing

If the shot you are vubbing contains a letterbox (e.g. a 2.39:1 image in a 16:9 frame), and the face in the shot you are vubbing breaks the top or bottom edge of frame, the render may having a 'bleed' of the letterbox into the render. If this is experienced, it is recommended to crop the letterbox out of the image before sending to DeepEditor.

Audio File Requirements

Format

  • WAV

  • MP4

Codec

  • Uncompressed (Linear PCM)

  • AAC (in an MP4 container)

Bit Rate

  • 16-bit or 24-bit

Sample rate

  • 48kHz

  • 96kHz

Channels

  • Up to 2 (mono or stereo). If 2 audio tracks exists, these will be mixed down to mono for the purpose of vubbing.

Note: Audio Driving Data should be clean dialogue i.e. with no music or sound effects.
