Making Source Media and Driving Data Work Together
Align your media in an NLE
Before exporting your Source media and Driving Data for DeepEditor, we recommend using Non-Linear Editing (NLE) software such as Avid, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve to ensure the best chance of success.
Follow these steps:
1. Assess your Source
- Identify the shot/character you want to vub.
- Study the physical performance of the actor (moments of physical emphasis, emotional content of the eyes).
- For some flexibility in the edit, consider adding handles to the shot.
2. Line up the Driving Data with the Source
- Line up your Driving Data audio (and video if using video DD) with your shot.
- Solo the Driving Data audio and cover the bottom half of the actor's face in the Source with your hand.
- Loop the playback; if you believe that the actor is saying those words underneath your hand, then the Driving Data is lined up correctly.
Vubbing only adjusts the area of the face below the eyes, so covering this area with your hand means you are just looking at the physical and emotional pairing of your Source media and Driving Data.
Once you are satisfied that the with your alignment of Source and Driving Data export your medio for uploading to DeepEditor.
